The Festival of Colors, or Holi is a sprint festival originating in India. Each year thousands of people come together for this colorful festival that celebrates the end of winter and the arrival of spring. Festival goers participate in a fun and playful free-for-all, smearing each other with colored powder while dancing and singing.
For several years now the Alachua Hare Krishna temple has celebrated this festival with both local community members and guests from throughout Florida. Gathering of the temple ground outside of the city of Alachua participants enjoyed a sunny day of music, feasting, and covering each other in brightly colors powder.
